Ross Lake Resort Job Opportunities

Ross Lake Resort is always looking for rock stars to join our team. We are a small remote fishing resort floating in the North Cascades National Park/Recreation Area. Our business consists of 15 rental cabins and a fleet of rental equipment including motorboats, canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. We are here to help the public enjoy the National Park and its backcountry as much as we do!

We are looking to hire individuals who are well-motivated, quick to learn, and can easily get along with others. Our lifestyle here is very secluded. There is no road access to the lake so our employees hike in and out for their workweek. Employees stay on-site five days a week and have a two-day weekend (not necessarily weekend days) to go out, get shopping items, and enjoy personal time. Because there is no store nearby, everyone brings in all their own groceries and any supplies that are needed for their workdays. The crew quarters have single and double-occupancy bedrooms, with a shared kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, and living space. Housing is determined after the hiring process is complete, and the number of crew members is known.

The positions are full-time (40 hours a week). Pay starts at Washington State minimum wage plus tips. Increases are dependent on position and experience. Our season runs from mid-June to October 31st, and we employ seasonal staff from mid-May to mid-November.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping involves making beds, cleaning kitchens (sanitizing refrigerators, counters, washing dishes, etc.), bathrooms, and the main rooms of our cabins. Additional responsibilities include tending to our guests, laundry, basic inventory skills, and a high volume of customer interactions. Excellent customer service skills are required.

Deckhand/Truck Driver

Being a deckhand/truck driver entails transporting people, gear, and personal watercraft vessels for an 8-hr shift between Diablo and Ross Lake in our 16 ft flatbed truck. This is a physical role and requires the ability to lift 60 pounds, in addition to loading kayaks, canoes, and gear that can weigh up to 100 pounds with assistance. As a deckhand, responsibilities include issuing watercraft rentals to guests, servicing, washing, and maintaining all watercraft equipment, and other general resort maintenance needed.

Office Staff

Being a member of our office staff entails answering phone calls/emails, checking guests in/out, scheduling reservations for resort stay, equipment rentals, and water taxi services, attending to guest needs, and answering questions about Ross Lake/National Park.

Boat Captain

Must have a valid US Coast Guard OUPV (six-pack) License and must be at least 18 years of age. We offer a water taxi service to transport guests and gear to and from the resort as well as to the hiking trails and campsites up the 21 miles of Ross Lake. This position is also required to help with all other resort duties when not driving boats such as but not limited to the issuance of rental equipment, cleaning/maintenance of boats, general dock duties, guest assistance, truck driving for portages, and guest needs. The Captain's schedule can either be 5 days a week working 8-hour shifts or 4 days a week working 10-hour shifts. There is a possibility of overtime in this position. A schedule will be discussed at the time of interviews and decided at the time of hire.
